Job summary

Non-Profit Organization seeks an experienced accounting leader to oversee all accounting activities, ensuring GAAP compliance and accurate financial reporting. You will direct GL, AP, AR, revenue, and payroll operations, manage the monthly close, and drive internal controls and process improvements.

The role requires 6+ years in accounting management, a CPA (plus), and Big 4 experience; SaaS/tech exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• 6+ years progressive experience in Accounting management
• CPA is a plus
• Big 4 public accounting experience preferred
• Experience with SaaS or private technology firms is a plus
• Strong understanding of GAAP and technical accounting
• Track record building and leading high-performance accounting teams

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting activities ensuring GAAP compliance and internal policies
• Manage accounting operations, tax, and financial reporting
• Direct daily activities for GL, AP, AR, revenue, payroll
• Manage monthly close process including journals, reconciliations and P&L
• Prepare, review and issue financial statements per US GAAP
• Review contracts and ensure revenue recognition per GAAP
• Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and data
• Lead process improvements and accounting policy updates
• Supervise and develop a high-performing accounting team
• Manage government reporting and tax filings at local, state, and federal levels
• Coordinate monthly financial reporting package for banking partners
• Manage relationships with banking, tax, audit, and insurance providers
• Oversee stock-based compensation and equity roll-forwards
• Lead annual financial audits and footnote disclosures
• Evaluate new accounting developments and recommendations for action
• Support annual budgeting and cross-department projects

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting activities ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies and procedure
• Manage accounting operations, tax, and financial reporting
• Direct the daily activities for GL, AP, AR, revenue, commissions, payroll
• Manage the monthly close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, inter-company, cost allocations, and other balance sheet and P&L accounts.
• Prepare, review and issue financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
• Review contracts and ensure that revenue is recognized in accordance with GAAP
• Implement and maintain effective internal controls and processes to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting, integrity of corporate data, and safeguarding of assets
• Manage accounting policies and procedures and lead efforts to change initiatives and process improvements
• Supervise and develop a strong, performance-oriented accounting team, capable of actively and effectively engaging and growing with the business
• Manage local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
• Manage monthly financial reporting package for banking partners
• Manage banking, tax, audit and insurance relationships
• Manage stock-based compensation and equity roll-forwards
• Lead annual financial audits and manage financial statement footnote disclosure
• Evaluate new technical accounting developments and recommend appropriate actions; drive process improvement at all levels of the organization
• Support internal operational and compliance programs
• Support annual budgeting and planning process
• Work alongside other departments on various projects

Requirements

• Bachelors and/or Master’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration with an Accounting emphasis preferred; CPA a plus
• 6+ years progressive experience in Accounting management role
• Big 4 public accounting experience strongly preferred
• Experience working with in SaaS and / or with a private technology firm. Start-up experience a plus
• Strong understanding of GAAP and technical accounting
• Track record of building, developing and leading high performance accounting teams in a fast paced organization
• Ability to work independently without considerable oversight, and to act decisively
• Experience in ERP systems
• Experience in designing and implementing accounting processes and control
• Excellent collaboration and relationship-building skills
• Analytical; High attention to detail, organized with exceptional time-management skills
• Strong communication skills, with ability to communicate at all levels in the organization
