Job summary

Métis Crossing is seeking a customer focused and organized Accommodations Team Lead to direct lodge operations including housekeeping, front desk, and occasional support for food & beverage. You will supervise staff, train teams, and ensure high standards of guest service daily.

Reporting to the Manager of Guest Experiences, you’ll collaborate across departments, oversee safety and compliance, and help maintain an inclusive, culturally respectful environment for guests and staff alike.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in boutique, luxury, or resort settings.
• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Hospitality or equivalent experience.
• Level C First Aid/CPR would be an asset.
• Ability to obtain and/or maintain WHMIS certification.
• Knowledge of Alberta history and Métis culture is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Direct lodge operations in housekeeping, front desk, and assist F&B when needed.
• Supervise housekeeping procedures, training, and performance reviews.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Handle emergencies and fire safety matters for the Lodge.
• Maintain front desk order and cleanliness, and manage staffing needs.

The Opportunity
Métis Crossing is seeking a customer focused and organized Accommodations Team Lead. Reporting to the Manager of Guest Experiences, the Team Lead will direct the lodge operation in housekeeping, front desk, and assist the food & beverage department when needed. This person will be interacting with the guests daily to provide courteous and efficient service pertaining to any needs they may have. While the
primary responsibilities will align with those of Operations, the successful applicants will be required to assist with other duties as needed to support the organization’s operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

The Accommodations Team Lead will ensure a high quality of customer service within the Lodge
operations through continuous communication with all departments at Métis Crossing, including the
Culture Centre, facilities and sites, front desk, food & beverage, and housekeeping.

• Enforce and implement housekeeping procedures and provide support to the housekeeping team in
  the absence of the Manager of Guest Experiences.
• Assist with the development and implementation of housekeeping processes, including room cleaning standards, inspection procedures, office procedures, and related documentation.
• Communicate housekeeping-related changes and initiatives to the team and monitor implementation, clearly explaining the rationale for changes and their impact on housekeeping operations.
• Oversee organization, cleanliness, and operational practices within the housekeeping department to ensure established standards are consistently maintained.
• Monitor and maintain housekeeping supply inventories and issue supplies as needed to support daily operations.
• Ensure superior cleanliness, service, and guest experience standards are maintained by all housekeeping team members.
• Resolve customer concerns promptly, professionally, and in a diplomatic manner.
• Address any problems and unusual situations until resolved.
• Collaborate in staffing responsibilities and perform supervisory duties including hiring and training staff, assigning job duties, and developing and overseeing staff work plans.
• Ensure that the housekeeping team is trained in all company standards.
• Conduct performance reviews and coaching of the housekeeping team.
• Ensure effective relations and communication with other departments.
• Handle the Lodge’s Fire Safety and aids with all emergencies.
• Maintain organization, cleanliness, and order in the front desk reception area.
• Provide other services as requested by the Manager of Guest Experiences.
• Other duties as required and assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in a boutique, luxury, or resort setting.
• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Hospitality or equivalent combination of education and experience an asset.
• Level C First Aid/CPR would be an asset.
• Ability to obtain and/or maintain WHMIS certification.
• Knowledge of Alberta history and cultural diversity.
• Knowledge of Alberta Métis culture, past and present.
• Excellent communication skills with ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Fluency in English is required.
• Exceptional customer service and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with coworkers, guests, etc.
• Cultural sensitivity and an ability to promote an inclusive environment exemplified by understanding all cultural groups.
• Experience in discussing performance issues with team members and providing direct and honest feedback when discussing career advancement and leading performance expectations.
• Self-motivated team player with demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills.
• High level of professionalism, integrity, and work ethic.
• Aware of and understands how all areas of the business interact and how own area impacts and is impacted by other areas.
• Understanding of legislation and regulations (i.e., WCB and employment standards) as they apply to our own area.
• Strong computer skills, advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and Hotel software required.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking, multi-functional team environment.
• Ability to handle difficult situations with a calm, professional demeanor.
• Excellent time management and organization skills.
• Ability to excel and perform well under pressure.

Other Requirements

• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends.
• Ability to work on-site at Métis Crossing in Smoky Lake.
• Clear Criminal Record Check is mandatory.
