Job summary

The University of Georgia's Accessibility and Testing department is seeking an Accommodated Testing Assistant in Athens. This role helps close the Accommodated Testing Office each evening, prepare exams, coordinate schedules with students, and plan ahead for test days.

You will work closely with students, faculty, and staff while delivering high-quality customer service, and you will collaborate with campus partners to meet each student’s accommodation needs.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a higher education setting is highly desirable.
  • Experience with database systems, scheduling software, and proctoring procedures is beneficial.

Position Summary

The Accommodated Testing Assistant is an integral part of Accessibility and Testing and reports to the Senior Assistant Director of Accommodated Testing and Alternative Formats. This position is primarily responsible for closing the Accommodated Testing Office each evening, assisting with preparing exams, coordinating schedules with students, and planning ahead for future test days. Additionally, this position will work closely with students, faculty, and staff while maintaining a high level of customer service. In collaboration with the Division of Student Affairs, this position builds collaborative relationships across campus to meet student’s accommodation needs.

Close the Accommodated Testing Office
  • Serve as on-site supervisor for student staff and proctors in evenings, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Verify all exam materials are accounted for and securely stored overnight.
  • Proctor students taking exams to ensure compliance with university honor code, the integrity of exams, and student wellbeing.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues with assistive technology or exam software while proctoring.
  • Communicate with faculty to obtain missing exams and create alternate plans with all parties if needed.
  • Document any issues that arise during testing, including technical difficulties or accommodation needs, and report to supervisor for follow-up.
  • Perform a final check of the office to ensure all exam-related materials and devices are properly stored, and the office and testing spaces are left in an organized state.

Plan future exam schedules
  • Coordinate with faculty to confirm any special accommodations or modifications to exam formats, including large print.
  • Maintain an accurate and accessible database of exam schedules and student accommodations.
  • Communicate with faculty the day prior to procure exams if unaccounted-for.
  • Monitor trends in exam scheduling to identify peak times and proactively plan for additional staff and resources, such as testing spaces.
  • Follow established policies and deadlines for exam scheduling, ensuring all requests are processed within the required timeframe to maintain fairness and consistency in accommodating students.

  • Ensure student’s accommodations are met accordingly for each exam.
  • Collaborate with other departments to facilitate additional space requests.
  • Train and guide faculty on best practices for accommodating students with disabilities.
