Job summary

Weber State University is seeking an Academic Year Math Tutor to support Upward Bound program participants in Ogden, UT. The role includes Saturday sessions 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and additional tutoring by appointment during the week.

Applicants should have experience in tutoring or mentoring high school students, with a background in a related post-secondary discipline. This is a pooled position with periodic openings and a background check required.

Qualifications

• Involved in a post-secondary institution with a major in the pertinent academic discipline or evidence of equivalent knowledge and/or experience.
• Experience in tutoring, mentoring, and/or community service with high school level students.

Responsibilities

• Provide math tutoring to Upward Bound high school students during the academic year, Saturdays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, and by appointment throughout the week.

Job Summary/Basic Function

Provide math tutoring to Upward Bound high school students during the academic year, Saturdays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, and by appointment throughout the week, as requested by students. May Occasionally implement grade-level specific college preparatory math activities and lessons.

• This is a pooled position. Applicants are selected from the pool as positions become available. After a period of time the pool will expire and applicants will be notified

Required Qualifications

Involved in a post-secondary institution with a major in the pertinent academic discipline or evidence of equivalent knowledge and/or experience.

Experience in tutoring, mentoring, and/or community service with high school level students.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduate of TRIO program or experience in overcoming the challenges and/or circumstances similar to those of the target population.

Due to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), individuals who have worked in a salaried capacity for Weber State University are ineligible to be hired as an hourly or adjunct employee at Weber State for six months.
