Job summary

University of Miami Health System in Florida is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible pathologist (Anatomic and/or Clinical) to provide patient care at UMH/JMH/SCCC and satellites. Responsibilities include gross description, frozen sections, autopsies, tissue procurement, reporting, and quality assurance.

The role emphasizes collaboration with residents, medical students, and other investigators, participation in committees, and ongoing education to maintain JCAHO/CAP/CLIA accreditation.

Qualifications

• Must be an M.D or D.O. who is Board Certified or Board eligible in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, or both.
• Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida.
• Strong general knowledge in Surgical Pathology including intraoperative evaluations, and subspecialties including hematopathology, anatomic pathology and laboratory Medicine.

Responsibilities

• Patient care services at UMH (University of Miami Hospital), JMH (Jackson Memorial Hospital) and SCCC (Sylvester Cancer Comprehensive Center) and satellites.
• Gross description, tissue sampling, microscopic examinations of surgical specimens, reporting of findings, and verifying coding diagnosis in the computer.
• Performing Frozen Section diagnoses in a timely manner.
• Performing and reporting autopsies in a timely manner.
• 24 hours call coverage according to assigned division.
• Participate in educational activities of pathology residents and fellows.
• Participate in educational activities of medical students.
• Participate in collaborative research opportunities and seek sponsored program funding from grants and contracts.
• Participate in daily quality assurance and in hospital committees and working groups.
• Maintain high standards of professional services to uphold JCAHO/CAP/CLIA accreditation.
