Job summary

The University of Miami Health System seeks a physician-scientist pathologist to join our hospital-based faculty. Candidates must be an MD or DO, Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anatomic Pathology and/or Clinical Pathology, and licensed to practice in Florida.

The role includes patient care across UMH/JMH/SCCC, teaching residents and students, and participation in departmental research and quality initiatives.

Qualifications

• Must be an M.D or D.O. who is Board Certified or Board eligible in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, or both.
• Must be licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida.

Responsibilities

• Patient care services across UMH, JMH and SCCC and satellites; focus on assigned specialty.
• Gross description, photography, tissue sampling, microscopic examination, reporting and coding verification.
• Perform frozen sections when applicable.
• Perform autopsies when applicable.
• 24 hours call coverage according to division.
• Contribute to departmental productivity per compensation plan.
• Educate pathology residents, fellows and medical students.
• Collaborate on research and seek sponsored funding.
• Participate in daily quality assurance and hospital committees.
• Maintain high standards to support accreditation.
