Job summary

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a Board-certified/eligible pathologist with training in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology to join its Department of Pathology, with emphasis on Neuropathology.

You will provide patient care across UMH, JMH, and Sylvester Cancer Center, participate in tumor boards, supervise autopsies when needed, and lead quality and education initiatives within a hospital-based academic setting.

Qualifications

• Must be an M.D. or D.O. board certified or eligible in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, or both; additional board certifications are desirable.
• Must be licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida.

Responsibilities

• Patient care services for UMH, JMH and related centers, focused on Neuropathology.
• Gross description, photography, tissue sampling, microscopic examinations, ancillary testing, reporting findings and coding.
• Performing Frozen Section and Rapid On-Site diagnoses.
• Performing and reporting brain autopsies.
• 24 hours call coverage according to subspecialty.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary tumor boards and site disease group meetings.
• Educate pathology residents, fellows, and medical students.
• Collaborate on research projects and seek sponsored funding.
• Participate in daily quality assurance and Departmental committees.
• Maintain JCAHO/CAP/CLIA accreditation and HIPAA-compliant records.
• Attend departmental meetings and events.
