Job summary

Los Angeles County Office of Education is seeking a Paraeducator – Academic to assist in teaching reading, writing, and mathematics to students working toward a diploma who have complex behavioral and learning needs. This open-eligibility recruitment uses a blended permanent and substitute pool.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and passing a written test plus a Paraeducator Workshop; travel to multiple sites within Los Angeles County may be required.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with children, adolescents, and young adults with behavioral or learning needs is highly desirable.
• All candidates must pass the LACOE written test of ability to assist in the instruction and complete the LACOE Paraeducator Workshop after passing the written test.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the instruction of reading, writing, and mathematics for students who are on-track to receive a diploma.
• Support students with behavioral, emotional, and learning needs as part of the instructional team.
