Qualifications

  • Proficiency with office software (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ability to learn SAP/Navigate.

Responsibilities

  • Advise undergraduates in the Informatics Student Success Advising Center across 13 disciplines to support retention and success.
  • Advise majors and minors, including new students, current majors, transfer students, and potential students.
  • Provide personal communication with students regarding academic advising issues.
  • Collaborate on admissions, orientation, recruitment, and retention events with Academic/Student Affairs.
  • Serve on committees (e.g., Academic Advising Council) and participate in special initiatives.
  • Attend trainings to stay current on NKU policies and best practices in advising.

Job description

Position Title:Academic AdvisorPosition Type:RegularAbout the Role:Advise undergraduate majors in the College of Informatics' Informatics Student Success Advising Center, providing academic advising, guidance and support across 13 different disciplines. The advisor will use holistic and proactive academic advising strategies towards the goal of student retention, persistence, accomplishment, and success.Advise majors and minors in the College of Informatics, including new students, current majors, and transfer students, as well as potential students.Provide personal communication with undergraduates regarding academic advising issues.Collaborate and participate in admissions, orientation, recruitment, and retention events within Academic Affairs and Student Affairs.Serve on appropriate committees (for example, Academic Advising Council).Assist the Informatics Student Success and Advising Center with special initiatives and projects.Become a Master Advisor which is an internal program to create a core of highly skilled advisors who provide high quality academic advising to support new and continuing NKU students.Attend regular training classes, conferences, and educational events to stay current on NKU policies and best practices in academic advising.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree required. A Master’s Degree in Student Affairs, Education, College Student Personnel, or Counseling, is strongly preferred.Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and exceptional communication skills are required. The ability to work with diverse populations, strong teamwork skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks are also required.Proficiency with office software (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); ability to learn complex software systems (e.g. SAP and Navigate) quickly. Ability to learn, understand, and articulate the requirements, culture, and skills developed in the College of Informatics.2 years of related experience is required preferably advising undergraduate university students.Position Open Until Filled; but, priority review of candidates will begin September 9th.Any candidate who is offered this position will be required to undergo a pre-employment criminal background check as mandated by state law.Posted Salary:Work Environment & Physical Demands:
