HJF is seeking a AAT Senior Research Technician to perform research and development in collaboration with scientific and technical staff. The role involves designing, executing, and interpreting experiments that contribute to project strategies. The technician will support laboratory activities, including aerosol exposures and research protocols, requiring 7 years of aerosol experience and knowledge of aerosol generating platforms and equipment such as aerodynamic particle sizers, nebulizers, and collection devices. Responsibilities include executing scientific studies, data management, maintaining lab space and equipment, and mentoring staff. The role requires working in BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 laboratories with regulated substances, requiring BPRP and CS-PRP certifications.

This position supports USAMRIID at Fort Detrick, MD, focusing on biological threat research and medical countermeasures. HJF, a nonprofit, advances military medicine by supporting scientific programs benefiting military and civilian health.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Assembling, calibrating, and testing telemetry systems; troubleshooting communication issues; supporting animal studies in high-containment labs.
  2. Maintaining telemetry systems in a validated state for GLP studies, managing inventory, and supporting data analysis.
  3. Ensuring data security, backup, and analysis; maintaining records per GLP standards.
  4. Collaborating with scientists, training personnel, and supporting animal protocols, including observations, sample collection, and euthanasia, under GLP and IACUC guidelines.
  5. Performing weekly/monthly laboratory and containment area maintenance, ensuring safety and compliance.
  6. Reporting safety or SOP non-compliance issues promptly.
  7. Supporting animal studies and maintaining required certifications (CS-PRP, BPRP).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree + 7 years' experience OR Master's degree + 3+ years' experience.
  • Knowledge of complex laboratory procedures, good communication, and analytical skills.
  • US citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain T3/Secret, BPRP, CPRP, CSPRP clearances.

Physical and Work Environment:

  • Health sufficient for BPRP, CPRP, CSPRP requirements; up-to-date immunizations; ability to lift up to 10 lbs.; standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Primarily laboratory setting.

Compensation: $57,650 - $93,100 annually, based on experience and education.
