Job description

Aerobiology, Animal Clinical Pathology and Telemetry (AAT) Senior Research Technician


Cape Fox subsidiary Eagle Health is accepting resumes for an AAT Senior Research Technician to support the members at Fort Detrick, Maryland. This position is contingent upon contract award.

The salary range for this exempt position is $85,000 - $95,000.


This range reflects the company's estimate of possible compensation at posting. Benefits include holidays, paid time off, health, dental, vision insurance, life and disability coverage, tuition reimbursement, and 401K with company match. The posting remains until filled or withdrawn.


Core Duties:
  1. Provide laboratory support by assisting in aerosol exposures and research protocol execution as directed by AAT Leadership.
  2. Assist with scientific studies, data collection/entry, laboratory maintenance, and mentoring staff.
  3. Work in BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 labs, maintaining BPRP and CS-PRP certifications.
  4. Generate and sample biological aerosols supporting pathogen studies, with workload about 75-120 exposures annually.
  5. Investigate infection events in laboratory animals pre- and post-exposure.
  6. Support animal protocols, including sample preparation and documentation.
  7. Manage study entries and activities in the AAT Scheduling program.
  8. Follow study protocols and schedules, completing sample processing and management in BSL environments, with about 20 protocols yearly.
  9. Perform assays such as ELISA, RT-PCR, and cytokine analysis as per protocols.
  10. Conduct clinical pathology evaluations supporting animal protocols and NHP colony management.
  11. Assist with data entry, charting, and manuscript or poster preparation, including conference presentations.
  12. Maintain laboratory space and equipment, record maintenance, and replenish supplies.
  13. Mentor and train team members according to SOPs and regulations.
  14. Develop, revise, and peer-review SOPs, and respond to audits and CAPAs.
  15. Assemble, calibrate, and troubleshoot telemetry systems, supporting animal studies in various biocontainment labs.
  16. Operate and maintain telemetry systems, ensuring data integrity and validation.
  17. Maintain data storage and backup, analyze telemetry data, and collaborate with scientists to provide telemetry services.
  18. Complete required training, perform weekly/monthly safety and maintenance tasks, and report safety issues.
  19. Support animal procedures and laboratory tasks in compliance with GLP, IACUC, and safety standards.
