Job summary

UChicago Medicine seeks an experienced Special Events AV Lead to manage the Special Events Services group on-site at Hyde Park, Chicago. You will set standards for operations, oversee equipment setup/teardown, and ensure exceptional customer service for faculty and staff.

You will handle scheduling, problem solving equipment issues, and contribute to proposals and billing for events. Strong communication and leadership in a fast‑paced academic medical setting are essential.

Qualifications

Associate or bachelor’s degree or technical training/experience equivalent.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in audio/visual communications or similar technical experience.
Demonstrated leadership in a customer-service oriented role.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Manage support tickets for Windows and Macintosh software/applications and hardware.
Operate all audio/visual equipment to assist staff, faculty, and clients.
Develop and maintain relationships with staff and faculty in academic programs.
Schedule AV equipment across the year in coordination with programs.
Maintain logs for setups/teardowns, requests, and labor hours.
Test, set up and breakdown AV equipment daily; respond quickly to last‑minute requests.
Maintain accurate equipment inventory records; troubleshoot malfunctions promptly.
Recommend equipment upgrades; assist in writing client proposals for AV/Special Events.
Create and maintain schedules for all AV requests and events.
Perform minor repairs on equipment; lead by example in department standards.
