Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a hands-on Accounts Payable Manager to lead and grow our AP function in a mid-sized manufacturing setting. You will drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and scalable growth, while ensuring accurate financial close and strong internal controls.

The role requires 5+ years in AP with leadership experience, expertise in procure-to-pay, and proficiency with JD Edwards. A hybrid schedule is available, with training provided to upskill teams as needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Accounts Payable team capable of scaling for growth and acquisitions.
• Manage all core AP functions: invoice processing, payment execution, T&E, P-Card admin, accruals, rebates, 1099 reporting, AP sub-ledger close, reconciliations, and issue resolution.
• Partner with Sourcing/Purchasing to drive end-to-end Procure-to-Pay improvements.
• Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve matching and payment bottlenecks.
• Develop and monitor KPIs to measure AP and shared services performance and drive efficiency.
• Optimize JD Edwards and other systems to improve AP reporting and processes.
• Lead automation efforts (OCR/ICR, EDI, ACH, RPA, etc.) to streamline AP workflows.
• Ensure internal controls are designed and operating effectively for compliance and accuracy.
• Support month-end and year-end close with accuracy and timeliness.

Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on, results-driven Accounts Payable Manager for a temporary-to-hire opportunity. This role will be responsible for leading and developing the Accounts Payable function while supporting process optimization, automation initiatives, and scalable growth across the organization. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership experience, a continuous improvement mindset, and expertise in procure-to-pay processes within a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Accounts Payable team capable of scaling to support both organic growth and acquisition activity.
• Manage all core Accounts Payable functions, including:
  • Invoice processing and payment execution
  • Travel & Expense (T&E) processing
  • Corporate P-Card administration and reconciliation
  • Accruals management
  • Customer rebate processing
  • 1099 reporting and compliance
  • AP sub-ledger close and account reconciliations
  • Exception management and issue resolution
• Partner closely with Sourcing and Purchasing teams to drive continuous improvement of the end-to-end Procure-to-Pay (P2P) process.
• Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve invoice matching exceptions, payment issues, and process bottlenecks.
• Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure Accounts Payable and shared services performance, identify improvement opportunities, and enhance operational efficiency.
• Optimize the utilization of JD Edwards and other financial systems to improve AP processes and reporting capabilities.
• Lead efforts to increase automation within Accounts Payable processes, including technologies such as OCR/ICR, EDI, ACH, RPA, and other workflow automation tools.
• Ensure internal controls are properly designed, documented, and operating effectively to support compliance and financial accuracy.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities while maintaining high standards of accuracy, timeliness, and customer service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive Accounts Payable experience, including team leadership or management responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of AP operations, procure-to-pay processes, internal controls, and financial close procedures.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably JD Edwards.
• Proven success driving process improvements and implementing automation technologies within finance operations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.
