Job summary

Hamilton County Communications Center is seeking a 911 Operator - Emergency Communications Officer to be the first contact for callers in emergencies. You will stay calm under pressure, make rapid decisions, and communicate clearly to coordinate police, fire and medical response.

The role involves shift work, mandatory training, and opportunities to bypass lengthy training for experienced candidates. A comprehensive benefits package and paid training accompany competitive, hourly pay.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and experience with regulatory requirements, communications equipment and the ability to exercise sound judgment under stressful circumstances; strong listening and diction and accurate typing.
• Must obtain RCIC, LEADS, NCIC, CPR, and APCO BASIC and EMD certifications.

Responsibilities

• Dispatches police, fire and rescue to emergencies and coordinates on-site safety operations; monitors units and resources.
• Receives and screens calls, collects incident information, and relays it to safety personnel; provides pre-arrival medical instructions.
• Operates computer terminals to disseminate and document critical information to public safety agencies; maintains location and status of units.
• Maintains RCIC, NCIC, LEADS, CPR, APCO BASIC and EMD certifications.
• Ensures confidentiality of data and supports various safety services during emergencies.
