As a 911 Operator, you will use a Computer‑Aided Dispatch (CAD) system to answer emergency and non‑emergency calls, determine the nature and location of incidents, and dispatch appropriate police, fire, medical, or other emergency units. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of both the public and first responders.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and screen incoming 911 and non‑emergency calls from the public and partner agencies.
- Prioritize calls based on urgency and established procedures.
- Dispatch the appropriate police, fire, EMS, or other emergency personnel.
- Ask critical questions and provide pre‑arrival instructions to callers.
- Communicate with officers and emergency responders regarding hazards, threats, and situational updates.
- Monitor and operate countywide radio systems for fire, EMS, law enforcement, and municipal agencies.
- Access, retrieve, and monitor data using GCIC/NCIC databases in compliance with all regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 18 years of age.
- U.S. citizen (native‑born, repatriated, or naturalized).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Georgia Telecommunications License.
- Willingness to obtain additional certifications as required.
- 911 Emergency Communications Operator.
- Employment is contingent on passing a mandatory Medical Physical/Drug Screen/Credit Check/Polygraph Test/Background Investigation/Psychological Examination and MVR.
