Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin seeks a communications operator to monitor alarms, track emergency personnel, and handle 911-originating calls. You will transmit radio messages and information to police personnel and perform related duties as required.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and complete a paid 13-week training program. Prior telecommunication operator experience and bilingual Spanish/English skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED.
• Ability to complete and review forms accurately and timely.
• Capability to perform duties after training.

Responsibilities

• Accurately track the status and location of emergency personnel using complex computer software.
• Monitor and acknowledge alarms including security, fire, CCTV, and radio/telephony systems.
• Receive calls for police services including 911-originating calls.
• Obtain information quickly and transmit radio messages and other information to police personnel.
• Perform other related functions as assigned.
