Job summary

Saab is seeking 3rd shift Structural Assemblers to build the aft fuselage for the U.S. Air Force T-7A Red Hawk at our West Lafayette, IN facility. You will assemble structures, train new team members, and help shape our state-of-the-art production system.

Training is provided on-site through our Aerospace Structures academy, with an anticipated start in early December 2026. Responsibilities include following standardized procedures, ensuring 100% quality, supporting continuous improvement,

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant assembly or hand tool experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Ability to select and safely use appropriate hand and power tools.
• Ability to follow standardized procedures and maintain consistent quality.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive physical tasks.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 25 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Install systems and perform final assembly on aircraft fuselage per procedures.
• Work according to quality requirements and instructions in a team environment.
• Support continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, delivery and morale.
• Complete functional testing of assemblies and systems.
• Touch up painting on Class A surfaces as needed.
• Sign off when work is completed per specifications.
• Assist in training and knowledge transfer to new employees.
• Contribute to a positive, productive work environment aligned with company values.
