Job summary

Saab is seeking 3rd shift Structural Assemblers to build the aft fuselage for the U.S. Air Force T-7A Red Hawk at our West Lafayette, IN facility. You will assemble aircraft structures, train new team members, and contribute to a cutting-edge production system.

Paid on-site training begins soon, with an anticipated start in December 2026. Responsibilities include following standardized procedures, supporting continuous improvement, performing functional tests, and handling Class A surfaces.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of assembly or hand tool experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Ability to select and safely use appropriate hand and power tools.
• Ability to follow standardized procedures and maintain consistent quality.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive physical tasks, including bending, stooping, twisting, kneeling, reaching, and gripping.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Execute standardized procedures to deliver 100% quality and install systems and final assembly on the aircraft fuselage.
• Deliver work according to quality requirements and work instructions; implement daily improvements in a team environment.
• Support daily continuous improvement highlighting opportunities in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and morale.
• Ability to complete functional testing of assemblies and systems.
• Handle Class A surfaces including touch-up painting.
• Sign off when work is complete according to specification.
• Support training and transfer of knowledge to new employees.
• Contribute to a positive and productive work environment aligned with company values.
