Job summary

Saab is seeking 3rd shift Structural Assemblers to build the aft fuselage for the U.S. Air Force T-7A Red Hawk at its West Lafayette, IN facility. The roles include assembling aircraft structures, training new team members, and contributing to a state-of-the-art production system.

Start date anticipated in early December 2026. Responsibilities include following procedures to install systems, performing functional tests, handling Class A surfaces, and ensuring 100% quality per specifications.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant assembly or hand tool experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Ability to select and safely use appropriate hand and power tools.
• Ability to follow standardized procedures and maintain consistent quality.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive physical tasks, including bending, stooping, twisting, kneeling, reaching, and gripping.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Execute standardized working procedures to deliver 100% quality according to requirements to install systems and final assembly on the aircraft fuselage
• Deliver work according to quality requirements and work instructions; implement the requirements in daily ways of working in a team-based environment
• Support daily, incremental continuous improvement highlighting advancement opportunities in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and morale
• Ability to complete functional testing of assemblies and systems
• Handling of "Class A" surfaces which includes touch-up painting
• Sign off when work is complete according to specification
• Support the training and transfer of knowledge to new employees

• Other tasks as assigned and authorized
