Job summary

Saab is growing its advanced manufacturing facility in West Lafayette, IN, seeking 3rd shift Structural Assemblers to build the aft fuselage for the U.S. Air Force T-7A Red Hawk, with paid on-site training through the Aerospace structures training academy.

Start date is early December 2026. Responsibilities include executing procedures to install systems and final assembly, reading engineering drawings, using hand tools, contributing to safety and quality, performing functional testing, and

Qualifications

• 2+ years of assembly or hand tool experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Ability to select and safely use appropriate hand and power tools.
• Ability to follow standardized procedures and maintain consistent quality.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive physical tasks, including bending, stooping, twisting, kneeling, reaching, and gripping.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Execute standardized procedures to deliver 100% quality for assembly on the aircraft fuselage.
• Deliver work according to quality requirements and work instructions in a team-based environment.
• Support daily continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and morale.
• Complete functional testing of assemblies and systems.
• Handle Class A surfaces including touch-up painting.
• Sign off when work is complete according to specification.
• Support training and transfer of knowledge to new employees.
• Contribute to a positive, productive environment aligned with company values.
