Job summary

O’Neal Steel seeks a 3rd shift Operations Supervisor in Peru, IL, to oversee processing, loading, and shipping while meeting quality and delivery targets. This role serves as the frontline liaison between hourly staff and management, driving safety, efficiency, and cost control on the shop floor.

Responsibilities include scheduling, cross-training, supervising activities, and ensuring adherence to lean practices. A background in steel processing and strong Excel skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience in steel service center or metal processing/manufacturing environment.
• Strong steel processing and service center experience preferred.
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Experience with safety training, truck scheduling, and routing.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Office products.
• Valid Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise warehouse and delivery employees, manage schedules, performance, and payroll.
• Ensure staff have training, instructions, and tools to perform duties.
• Coordinate and execute production work schedule and cross training.
• Supervise shop activities to meet quality standards and delivery dates.
• Utilize lean principles to drive continuous improvement and cost control.
• Monitor budgets and staff levels; adjust to meet goals.
• Support maintenance planning to maximize uptime and asset utilization.
• Resolve internal/external customer issues with a focus on morale.
