Job summary

O’Neal Steel in Shelbyville, IN is seeking an Operations Supervisor on the second shift to oversee processing, loading and shipping while upholding safety and cost standards. You will act as the first-line liaison between hourly staff and management, driving performance and on-time delivery.

The role requires 3 years of supervisory experience in a steel service or manufacturing setting, lean expertise, and strong computer skills (Excel).

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a steel service center or similar environment.
• Experience with safety training and scheduling of truck routes.
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Office products.
• Ability to plan production schedules and manage in a fast-paced shop floor.

Responsibilities

• Supervise warehouse and delivery employees, schedules, productivity and payroll.
• Coordinate production work schedules and cross-training opportunities.
• Ensure quality standards and on-time delivery; manage overtime.
• Lead continuous improvement using Lean, 5S, and Visual Factory.
• Resolve internal/external customer problems and maintain safe operations.
• Administer policies and monitor budgets and KPI targets.
