Job summary

O'Neal Steel LLC in Peru, IL is seeking a 3rd Shift Operations Supervisor to oversee the loading, shipping, and processing of orders, ensuring quality and timely delivery. The role acts as the liaison between hourly staff and management, championing lean practices and safety on the shop floor.

The position requires 3+ years of supervisory experience in steel or related manufacturing, strong Excel skills, and a valid driver’s license. Competitive benefits accompany a full-time, on-site role.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience in steel service center or related manufacturing.
• Strong steel processing and service center experience preferred.
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Experience with safety training, truck scheduling, and truck routing.
• Strong computer skills with Microsoft Excel.
• Valid Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise warehouse and delivery employees, including schedules, productivity strategies, and payroll.
• Ensure personnel have training, work instructions, and tools to perform duties.
• Coordinate and execute the production work schedule.
• Develop cross-training opportunities for employees.
• Supervise shop activities to meet quality standards.
• Make daily assignments and allocate overtime to meet delivery dates.
• Apply lean manufacturing to drive continuous improvement.
• Evaluate service levels and adjust staffing as needed.
• Assist in planning equipment and facilities maintenance with Maintenance Department.
• Administer policies and monitor performance to meet company standards.
• Monitor budgets and meet established goals.
• Resolve internal and external customer problems and promote morale.
• Drive safety and housekeeping improvements using Visual Factory and 5-S.
• Meet KPI targets like OTD, QDR, LTA, and MH/Ton.
