Job summary

Northwestern Medicine's Delnor Hospital in Geneva is hiring a Medical Laboratory Technician for a full-time 3rd shift (10pm–6:30am) position. This role involves handling pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic duties to support accurate patient diagnoses.

You will work in a busy clinical lab, follow SOPs, ensure specimen integrity, and collaborate with physicians and nursing staff to deliver timely results. An ASCP-eligible MLT certification and 1 year of lab experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Technician, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biology, or allied health
• Must obtain Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) (ASCP) or equivalent certification within 1 year of hire date
• Preferred: 1 year of laboratory experience

Responsibilities

• Performs pre-analytic workflow to ensure correct order entry and specimen collection.
• Performs analytical testing following SOPs and maintains quality control.
• Verifies specimens, orders, and add-on tests as needed.
• Monitors workflow, prioritizes tasks, and communicates results to physicians.
• Performs post-analytical duties including reporting and record keeping.

Education

Associate Degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Technician, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biology, or Allied Health qualifying the applicant to take the national ASCP certifying exam
