Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist for a full-time 3rd shift at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. The role requires 10pm–6:30am shifts with rotating weekends and holidays, and responsibilities span pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic workflows in a clinical laboratory environment.

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field and ASCP certification eligibility, with MLS/MT certification or eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry or Biology.
• ASCP or equivalent certification examination eligibility; license/certification per regulatory agency.
• General MLS/MT certification or eligibility; categorical BB, C, H or M eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Performs pre-analytic workflow to ensure correct orders and specimen handling.
• Verifies orders and non-patient information per protocol.
• Collects, receives and processes specimens; prioritizes workloads.
• Performs analytical testing following SOPs; maintains instrument quality.
• Performs quality control, data interpretation and corrective actions.
• Performs post-analytic duties including releasing results and documenting reports.
• Ensures safety, documentation, and compliance with audits and regulations.
