Job summary

Cloverdale Foods is seeking an Assistant Foreman to support the Smokehouse Foreman in leading the third shift on the production floor. You will coordinate daily production tasks, manage raw and finished inventory, and ensure timely conversion of materials to meet sales and customer orders while complying with safety, SQF, GMP and USDA requirements.

The role involves heavy collaboration with QA, Maintenance and Supervisors, overseeing sanitation, training, and adherence to SOPs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Three+ years supervising departments and people, preferably in meat processing.
• Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, lean principles, and food safety standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication across all levels.

Responsibilities

• Oversee department activities to ensure safe, efficient operations.
• Disseminate production information to shift personnel in a timely manner.
• Monitor setup and operation of room equipment to meet schedule.
• Review and update Standard Operating Procedures and SSOPs.
• Support throughput improvements and coordinate improvement projects.
• Escalate production issues to Foreman and coordinate with Maintenance/QA.
• Address employee issues through coaching and progressive discipline.
• Identify training needs and develop team member skills.
• Conduct safety observations and lockout/tagout audits.
• Ensure compliance with SOPs, SSOPs, GMP, SQF, and USDA.
• Maintain inventory using the in-house system (packaging, casings, allergens).
• Communicate daily with QA on product and production concerns.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
