Job summary

RTX is seeking an experienced CNC machinist for an onsite role in the United States. You will program, set up, machine, and inspect parts using lathes, mills, and grinders, reading blueprints and GD&T to meet dimensional requirements.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, vocational training, and at least four years of relevant experience, with certification on multiple programs. Third shift with overtime may be required; training in early hours may be provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with vocational/technical training.
• At least 4 years of relevant experience.
• Certification in core discipline with 4–5 months of employment; multi-program certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Program, assemble, and operate CNC or manual machines to produce components.
• Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and work orders for dimensions and material.
• Assemble, repair, and fabricate metal parts into sub-units or final units.
• Perform machining setups and measure material; select appropriate machines.
• Inspect produced work and monitor SPC charts for quality and safety.
• Support extended shifts and overtime as required; 3rd shift 10pm–6am; training 6am–2pm if applicable.

Job description

Position Type: Onsite (U.S. Person required). Security Clearance: None.

What You Will Do

• Produce machine parts by programming, assembling, and operating CNC or manual machines (Lathes, Mills, Grinders). Interpret blueprints, work orders, engineering plans, GD&T, designs, and sketches for operation, material, and dimensional requirements.
• Assemble, repair, and fabricate metal parts into sub-units or complete units using operating mechanical equipment.
• Takes measurements of material and selects appropriate machines for the process.
• Performs machining setups and makes adjustments as required.
• Conducts inspections of work produced and checks SPC charts for frequency of checks, gauging and measurements.
• Keeps records and maintains quality/safety standards. Exhibits RTX Leadership Behaviors and Values. Supports and follows all rules/guidelines/standards set by EHS, Quality and CI functions.
• Performs other duties as assigned, including working extended shifts/overtime as required by the business. 3rd shift position: Monday through Friday10pm–6am. Training: first 3–6months Monday through Friday6am–2pm.

Qualifications

• Required: High school diploma or equivalent, vocational/technical education in a related discipline, minimum 4years of relevant experience, certification in core discipline with 4–5months of employment. Certification on multiple programs labeled as moderate to difficult in degree of complexity.
• Preferred: Minimum 4years operating CNC machining centers.
• Communicates effectively across disciplines and cells and with all levels to resolve issues quickly.
• Critical thinking: uses logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions.
• Demonstrates skill in executing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish daily goals working at times with little or no supervision.
• Demonstrates ability to train, mentor, and help others to improve their knowledge of skills, respected by peers through hard work and ethics.
• Moderate proficiency of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• General awareness of production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
• Working knowledge of continuous improvement tools and processes.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing machines and tools, including designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Considered a technical expert in at least one discipline.
• Capable of working on multiple complex programs in primary discipline and several moderate programs in primary or additional disciplines.
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and management.
