What you will do
- Produce machine parts by programming, assembling, and operating CNC or manual machines (lathes, mills, grinders, and other specialized equipment).
- Interpret blueprints, work orders, engineering plans, specifications, reference planes, designs, sketches, and geometric dimensioning and tolerances (GD&T) for operation, material, and dimensional requirements.
- Assemble, repair, and fabricate metal parts into sub‑units or complete units using mechanical equipment.
- Take measurements of material and select appropriate machines for each process.
- Perform machining setups and make necessary adjustments.
- Conduct inspections of finished work, check SPC charts for frequency of checks, gauging, and measurements.
- Keep records and maintain quality and safety standards.
- Exhibit RTX Leadership Behaviors and Values; support and follow all EHS, Quality, and CI rules and guidelines.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, including extended shifts or overtime, to support business needs.
Schedule
2nd shift: Monday through Friday, 3:30pm–12:00am. Training period (first 2‑3 months): Monday through Friday, 7am–3:30pm.
Qualifications – Required
- High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED).
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or machining environment.
- Certification in core discipline with 4–5months of employment.
- Proficiency in operating moderate to difficult CNC programs.
- Basic computer literacy; moderate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Understanding of production processes, quality control, and continuous improvement tools.
- Ability to maintain records and follow safety and quality standards.
Qualifications – Preferred
- 6+ years operating CNC machining centers.
- Strong communication skills across disciplines and at all levels.
- Critical thinking ability to evaluate alternative solutions.
- Experience in training, mentoring, and influencing small teams.
- Technical expertise in at least one machining discipline.
- Experience with multiple complex programs in primary and secondary disciplines.
