Job summary

Electrical Automation Services in Carol Stream, IL, is seeking an experienced automation technician to install, configure and troubleshoot a wide range of controls including PLCs, HMIs, and motion components. You will interpret electrical schematics, work with 480V 3-phase power, and diagnose drives and encoders to maintain production lines.

The role includes programming PLCs and HMIs, ladder logic updates, and ensuring safe operations.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience with PLCs and servo systems required.
Experience with computerized maintenance systems preferred.
Experience on packaging equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Thorough understanding of safety procedures preferred.
PLC programming preferred.
Experience with encoders, servomotors, amplifiers preferred.

Responsibilities

Install, configure and troubleshoot photo eyes, proximity switches, limit switches, PLC I/O modules and related control wiring.
Troubleshoot analog/digital controls for 480V, 3-phase power distribution, motors, VFDs, servo drives and soft starts.
Maintain and troubleshoot encoders and load cells.
Program and troubleshoot PLC and HMI interfaces; modify ladder logic as needed.
Troubleshoot communication protocols: Profibus, serial, industrial Ethernet.
Diagnose using electrical schematics and perform preventive maintenance on Laser Guided Vehicles, conveyors and production equipment.
