Job summary

Saab is expanding its advanced manufacturing facility in West Lafayette, IN, seeking 3rd shift Structural Assemblers to build the aft fuselage for the T-7A Red Hawk. These roles include paid on-site training through our Aerospace structures academy with an anticipated start in early December 2026.

Responsibilities include executing procedures, delivering quality work, supporting continuous improvement, performing functional testing, handling Class A surfaces, signing off when complete, and

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant assembly or hand tool experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Able to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Follow standardized procedures and maintain consistent quality.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs (up to 50 lbs occasionally).
• Willing to work extended hours and weekends if required.

Responsibilities

• Assemble aircraft structure and install systems per procedures.
• Deliver quality work according to requirements and instructions.
• Support continuous improvement focusing on safety, quality, cost, and morale.
• Perform functional testing of assemblies and systems.
• Handle Class A surfaces including touch-up painting.
• Sign off when work meets specifications and train new employees.
• Contribute to a positive, productive work environment aligned with company values.
