Job summary

Saab is expanding its advanced manufacturing facility in West Lafayette, IN, seeking 3rd shift Structural Assemblers to build the aft fuselage for the T-7A Red Hawk trainer. On-site training will be provided through the Aerospace structures training academy, with an anticipated start in early December 2026.

Responsibilities include assembling aircraft structures, following standardized procedures, and training new team members while contributing to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant assembly or hand tool experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Ability to select and safely use appropriate hand and power tools.
• Ability to follow standardized procedures and maintain consistent quality.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive physical tasks.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 25 lbs and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Execute standardized procedures to install systems and final assembly on the aircraft fuselage.
• Deliver work according to quality requirements and instructions in a team setting.
• Support daily continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and morale.
• Complete functional testing of assemblies and systems.
• Handle Class A surfaces including touch-up painting.
• Sign off when work is complete per specification.
• Support training and knowledge transfer to new employees.
• Contribute to a positive, productive work environment aligned with company values.
• Perform other tasks as assigned and authorized.
