Job summary

The Wenatchee School District is seeking a part-time Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) for a leave replacement from 8/31/26 to 4/2/27. The role provides school-based physical therapy services to students with disabilities, about 15 hours per week, under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.

You will support student mobility, access, independence and safety in the educational environment, implement IEP services, and collaborate with teachers, families and other service providers.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Current WA PTA license or able to obtain licensure.
  • Ability to safely assist students with mobility, positioning, transfers, and adaptive equipment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide physical therapy interventions under supervision of a licensed PT.

Physical Therapist Assistant - Leave Replacement (8/31/26-4/2/27)

15 hrs per week

Salary: $31.24-$33.76 per hour

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides school-based physical therapy services to students with disabilities under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. The PTA supports student mobility, access, independence, safety, and participation in the educational environment while implementing services identified in students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Essential Duties
  • Provide physical therapy interventions under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
  • Implement treatment plans and IEP services developed by the Physical Therapist.
  • Support student mobility, positioning, transfers, strength, balance, coordination, and safe access to school environments.
  • Assist students with adaptive equipment, wheelchairs, walkers, gait trainers, and other mobility supports.
  • Collaborate with teachers, para educators, families, and related service providers.
  • Support and train school staff in safe positioning, transfers, mobility, and equipment use as directed by the Physical Therapist.
  • Collect student data and communicate progress or concerns to the supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Complete service logs, progress documentation, Medicaid billing, and other required records.
  • Participate in IEP and team meetings as appropriate.
  • Maintain student confidentiality and follow district safety procedures.
  • Travel between district schools and programs as needed.
  • Perform other related duties consistent with the scope of the position.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Current Washington State Physical Therapist Assistant license or ability to obtain required licensure.
  • Ability to safely assist students with mobility, positioning, transfers, and adaptive equipment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with children or students with disabilities.
  • Experience in school-based or pediatric physical therapy.
  • Knowledge of special education, IEPs, adaptive equipment, and school-based Medicaid documentation.

SCHEDULE: OPEN UNTIL FILLED.

180 - 219 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 10 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days and 11 holidays.

220 - 259 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 10 days of sick leave, 3 personal leave days and 11 holidays.

260 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 12 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days, 14 holidays and 12 vacation days.

Tuition reimbursement, 50% up to $450 per year for qualified expenses.
