Job summary

Opella is seeking a Packaging Supervisor in Chattanooga, TN to lead packaging operations on a 2nd shift (2:30pm–11:00pm). You will oversee 15–20 frontline personnel, drive safety, quality, productivity, and attendance, and partner with Quality, Maintenance, and HSE to meet production goals.

You will coach staff, set clear performance expectations, and conduct regular reviews, while ensuring SOPs and GMP compliance. A Bachelor’s degree and manufacturing supervisory experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations management, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of supervisory or lead experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience delivering KPI’s in manufacturing (OEE, yield, scrap rates).
• Experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment; FDA-regulated preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily packaging operations to achieve production targets while ensuring safety, quality, and compliance.
• Supervise and develop frontline employees, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
• Set performance expectations and conduct 30-60-90 day reviews and annual evaluations.
• Ensure attendance, safety, quality, and conduct in partnership with People & Culture.
• Support training and cross-training to strengthen workforce capabilities.
• Manage daily staffing, work assignments, and performance to meet needs.
• Collaborate with Maintenance, Quality and other functions to minimize downtime.
• Ensure SOPs and GMP requirements are followed; drive continuous improvement.
• Conduct cGMP and safety training for new and existing staff.
• Coordinate packaging line changeovers and material readiness.
• Ensure equipment, rooms, and facilities are clean and compliant.
• Lead shift meetings and clear communication of priorities and updates.
• Ensure batch records and instructions are understood and followed.
