Job summary

Maple Leaf Foods in Indianapolis is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the 2nd shift (2:00 PM – 10:30 PM) to keep plant equipment running safely in a fast-growing, plant-based facility. The role focuses on preventive and emergency maintenance, troubleshooting electrical/mechanical systems, and supporting utility operations.

You will read schematics, perform basic welding, and collaborate with contractors while following OSHA and GMP standards in a temperature-controlled environment.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including motors, wiring, and control circuits.
• Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical equipment.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize repairs, and communicate effectively with team members.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work at elevated heights, and perform physical maintenance tasks.
• Preferred: PLC-controlled equipment and VFDs experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on production equipment and facility systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical and mechanical equipment, including motors, pumps, conveyors, bearings, and gearboxes.
• Diagnose electrical issues involving industrial equipment, control circuits, sensors, and associated components.
• Troubleshoot pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated production equipment.
• Support facility utility systems, including boilers, refrigeration, HVAC, compressed air, and water treatment equipment.
• Read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals to identify and resolve issues.
• Perform basic welding, fabrication, and equipment modifications as needed.
• Complete maintenance work orders, parts requests, and documentation accurately and on time.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation and respond to off‑shift emergencies or overtime needs as required.
• Collaborate with the maintenance team and outside contractors to improve equipment reliability.
• Follow OSHA, HACCP, SQF, GMP, lockout/tagout, and electrical safety standards.
