Job summary

Shape Technologies Group in Baxter Springs, KS, is seeking an experienced Machine Shop Supervisor to oversee the 2nd shift, directing daily operations and ensuring production efficiency, quality, and safety.

You will report to the Director of Manufacturing, collaborate with engineering, quality, and scheduling, develop training, drive continuous improvement, and mentor team leaders to build a high-performing, compliant shop.

Qualifications

• Supervisory experience in a machining environment.
• Strong knowledge of data analysis to drive improvements.
• Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement experience.
• Proficient in problem solving and cross-functional collaboration.
• Able to read blueprints and engineering specifications.
• Solid math skills including statistics.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and manufacturing software.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision to shop personnel ensuring a productive, safe environment.
• Develop training programs to build a cross-functional, high-performing team.
• Mentor Team Leaders and strengthen leadership capabilities.
• Drive continuous improvement and problem-solving culture.
• Manage workflows and schedules with Production Scheduler.
• Ensure maintenance of shop equipment.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering on tooling to improve quality and reduce costs.
• Work with engineers on designs and process change requests.
• Prepare daily work order, efficiency, and earned hours reports.
• Uphold safety, policies, standards and quality expectations.
• Lead 5 Why problem-solving initiatives and QMS compliance.
• Monitor direct labor performance and provide coaching.
• Ensure adherence to safety and operational best practices.
• Other duties as assigned.
