Job summary

Deckorators, a UFP Industries brand, is seeking an Injection Molding Supervisor for the 2nd shift. You will lead a team, manage machines and molds, ensure safety and quality, and drive continuous improvement on the production floor in Michigan.

Qualifications

• Direct experience with plastic injection molding processes and equipment.
• Strong leadership and coaching skills for shift teams.
• Experience with PVC injection molding strongly preferred.
• Post-secondary education or technical training in manufacturing leadership.
• Knowledge of safety practices and production documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the daily operations of the injection molding department during the second shift.
• Direct, train, coach, and develop production employees.
• Communicate daily production priorities, expectations, and performance results.
• Assign employees and equipment based on production schedules and mold capacity.
• Monitor production performance and adjust for safety, quality, cost and output.
• Oversee setup, operation, and performance of injection molding machines and related equipment.
• Ensure process checks, documentation, and quality inspections are completed on time.
• Identify and resolve production, quality, staffing, and equipment issues.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance and mold changes with Maintenance.
• Help reduce downtime, waste, and overtime; improve efficiencies.
• Maintain department inventory and material movement.
• Review performance and provide coaching and recognition.
• Identify staff for training and advancement.
• Ensure training before operating machinery.
• Lead continuous improvement like 5S and TPM.
• Use data visuals to communicate priorities and performance.
• Conduct routine audits for safety and quality.
• Ensure compliance with policies and laws.
• Promote safety-first culture and PPE usage.
• Support lockout/tagout and guarding safety programs.
• Participate in safety meetings and corrective actions.
• Prepare production reports and department records.
• Communicate with management on status and issues.
• Complete forklift training and assist material movement.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
