Job summary

Veolia North America invites applicants for an Environmental Technician in Providence, RI. You will join a team of professionals focused on learning environmental regulations and handling hazardous materials in a compliant manner.

You will consolidate, treat, store, transport and/or dispose of hazardous waste according to procedures, and complete required documentation accurately. This is a physically active role requiring lifting up to 50 pounds and fork-lift operation, with PPE as specified.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to repeatedly lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand and walk on uneven surfaces for extended periods.
• Reading labels and documentation; depth perception to operate forklifts.
• Hearing vehicle warning chimes and alarms; outdoor work in all conditions.
• Willingness to wear PPE including safety glasses, hard hat, steel-toed shoes, gloves, Tyvek coveralls and respirator.
• Ability to understand and respond to written and verbal English.
• Occasional night, weekend and variable schedule work as needed.

Responsibilities

• Learn environmental regulations and how hazardous materials are removed from waste streams.
• Consolidate, treat, store, transport or dispose of hazardous waste per policy.
• Complete required documentation accurately and on time.
• Operate forklift and other equipment to move containers to storage, treatment areas and trailers.
