Job summary

ComServ in Shelby, NC is seeking energetic Direct Support Professionals to help adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities live more independently. The role focuses on supporting daily living, community participation, and building natural supports.

You will follow Person-Centered Plans, assist with personal care, transportation, budgeting, and meaningful activities. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, pass background checks, and maintain a compassionate, adaptable approach.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Preferred NC driver’s license with safe driving record.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen & background check.
• Ability to read, write, follow instructions, read directions, and perform basic math.
• Patience, kindness, and eagerness to help.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals to participate in community activities and interactions.
• Develop knowledge of each Person Centered Plan (PCP) to achieve goals.
• Provide adaptive skills training including personal care and daily living support.
• Arrange meaningful activities based on preferences and program goals.
• May provide transportation using company or personal vehicle.
• Document and participate in required trainings and meetings.
• Advocate for the rights of individuals and adhere to regulatory standards.
