Job summary

Colonna’s Shipyard in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Beam Cut Operator for the 2nd shift (3pm–11:30pm) in the Fabrication Shop. You will operate a CNC automatic beam cutting machine to make precision cuts on metal structural profiles and support production schedules.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma and at least two years’ experience with CNC beam cutting in steel environments, with ability to read blueprints and perform basic math.

Qualifications

• HS diploma (or equivalent) and 2+ years operating a CNC beam cutting machine in steel environments.
• Must read, interpret, and follow blueprints/drawings.
• Basic math, reading, writing and communication skills required.
• Able to work all shifts, overtime, and weekends.
• Steady, reliable worker.

Responsibilities

• Operates a CNC automatic beam cutting machine to make precision cuts on metal profiles.
• Prepares, sets up, and adjusts the Beam Cut machine per plans and schedules.
• Ensures sufficient raw materials are available for production.
• Measures and aligns materials for cutting.
• Inspects finished pieces for quality against specifications.
• Performs routine maintenance on the Beam Cut machine.
• Maintains a clean and safe work area.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
