Job summary

Colonna’s Shipyard is seeking a CNC Burn Table Operator (2nd Shift) for Steel America in Norfolk, VA. The role involves operating and maintaining plasma and oxyfuel burning machines, reading blueprints, and ensuring quality while adhering to safety protocols.

You will document production, manage tool settings, and coordinate with teammates to meet schedules. Experience with CNC burning, setup of gas and tip settings, and ability to work nights, weekends, and overtime are required.

Qualifications

• Must read blueprints or drawings.
• Minimum 1 year CNC experience in steel fabrication or service center.
• Ability to read work orders and measure to specifications.
• Must be able to work all shifts, overtime and weekends.
• Must communicate effectively with team, Sales, coworkers & vendors as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Maintain specifications by observing and cutting, taking measurements.
• Operate and maintain burning machines to cut plates in various shapes.
• Set up tooling and correct gas settings to complete jobs.
• Inspect parts against blueprints and verify tolerances.
• Enter correct program into CNC burning machine and run sequences.
• Document production and quality logs for traceability.
