Job summary

Consumers Energy is seeking an Automotive & Equipment Mechanic to join our Hamilton, MI service center. This 2nd shift union position requires a minimum 40 hours per week in a 24/7 operation and involves hands-on work diagnosing and repairing major vehicle and equipment systems.

The role includes inspecting hydraulics and brakes, tuning engines, and performing various repairs; suitable candidates must have a high school diploma/GED, 2+ years of heavy machinery experience, pass FMCSA

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED with 2+ years of experience as an A/E Mechanic or equivalent with hands on experience working with heavy machinery.
• Must pass a drug and alcohol test and may undergo background screen per FMCSA.
• Must obtain CDL-X within 89 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair hydraulic, air conditioning, brake, transmission, starting and electrical systems.
• Tuning engines with analyzers and diagnosing front-end suspensions.
• May be required to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays related to storms and other emergencies.
• Log plant status and communicate effectively with coworkers.
