Job summary

Consumers Energy in Saginaw, MI is seeking an Automotive & Equipment (A/E) Mechanic for a 2nd shift union position, with a 40-hour minimum in a 24/7 operation.

Under directive supervision you will diagnose, adjust and repair hydraulic, brake, transmission, electrical and emission systems on vehicles and equipment, and tune engines with analyzers.

This role requires safety compliance, ability to move around the plant, and potential overtime, nights, weekends and holidays during storms.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 2+ years of hands-on A/E mechanic experience.
• Must pass controlled substances/alcohol test; background check may apply.
• CDL-X endorsement must be obtained within 89 days of hire.
• Preferred ASE Certification, SOS Mechanic Certification, and automotive degree.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, adjust and repair hydraulic, air conditioning, braking, emission, transmission, starting, charging and electrical systems.
• Tune engines with analyzers.
• Diagnose and repair front-end suspension and cylinder heads.
• Perform minor repairs to booms, buckets, and vehicle bodies.
• Inspect man lift and aerial devices; perform incidental welding, cutting, heating and brazing.
• May require overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays during storms or emergencies.
