Job summary

RTX is hiring for a 2nd shift operator at our Wells, ME site. The role trains individuals with little or no machining background to become a Certified Operator for Pratt & Whitney components, with a 3-week training and 4–8 weeks on-the-job training.

You will learn to set up NC milling/grinding machines, use precision instruments and participate in TPM. Benefits include comprehensive coverage, PTO and 401(k) matching, with onsite training and a clear path to certification.

Qualifications

• High School or GED is required.
• 1+ years of manufacturing, automotive or related trade experience preferred.
• Ability to make computations involving decimals and fractions.

Responsibilities

• Learn to set up and operate NC milling/grinding machines, vertical turret lathes or VTC’s to perform routine production operations.
• Learn to work from operation sheets and travelers to set up equipment for grinding, turning and boring operations.
• Learn to verify conformance of finished work using precision measuring instruments.
• Obtain operator Certification to be able to accept/reject parts.
• Collaborate with engineers, quality assurance and production personnel to resolve machining problems.
