Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in North Berwick, ME, is hiring for a 2nd shift Certified Operator. You will learn to set up and operate NC milling and grinding machines, working from operation sheets to produce precise weldments and assemblies.

The program includes a 3-week training plus 4–8 weeks on-the-job training, with opportunities to advance, and you will collaborate with engineers, QA, and production staff to resolve machining challenges and maintain equipment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year in manufacturing or related trades preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform basic arithmetic.

Responsibilities

• Learn to set up and operate NC milling/grinding machines and lathes to perform routine production operations.
• Attend a 3-week training program and 4–8 weeks of on-the-job training.
• Learn to use operation sheets, travelers, BOROPS to set up equipment for grinding, turning, and chamfering.
• Verify conformance of finished work to specifications with precision instruments.
• Obtain operator Certification to accept/reject parts.
• Maintain machines through total productive maintenance (TPM).
• Collaborate with engineers, QA, and production staff to resolve machining problems.
