Job summary

Wabash in Lafayette, IN is seeking skilled technicians for metal fabrication roles. You will perform semi-skilled manual duties, operate lasers, turrets, presses, and other equipment, read blueprints, and follow safety policies.

The position requires independent judgment, strong math skills, ability to read calipers and gauges, and the capacity to lift up to 50 lbs. Our team emphasizes safety, reliability, and quality in a high-noise manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High school degree or GED equivalent is required.
• General computer skills (Excel and Word)
• Strong math skills
• Ability to read and use tape measure, calipers, and gauging equipment.
• Ability to read and follow engineering drawings.
• Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills
• Able to exercise independent judgment when performing responsibilities.
• Perform work at a quality level that meets or exceeds Wabash and ISO standards.
• Ensure a Winning Together mentality to eliminate shift-versus-shift mentality.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Operate lasers, turrets, presses, and other equipment including setup and PM maintenance.
• Read blueprints and follow engineering drawings.
• Wear all required PPE and follow safety policies.
• Assist in the manufacture of metal parts.
• Flex work schedule to meet production needs and maintain safety.
• Report defects and repairs to production and maintenance leadership.
• Demonstrate Wabash Values and Leadership Principles daily.
• Work independently or with others across techs, operators, and engineers.
