Job summary

ADP, Inc. in Elkhart, IN is seeking a Metal Fabrication Operator for the 3rd shift to set up and operate CNC turret punch presses and laser cutting machines to produce precision sheet metal parts.

You will read and interpret blueprints and job orders, load materials, monitor machining, inspect finished parts with calipers and micrometers, perform basic maintenance, and keep a safe, organized work area.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of experience operating CNC turret and/or laser machines in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Familiarity with metal types, gauges, and machine tooling.
• Proficient in using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, tape measures).
• Strong attention to detail and teamwork; able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for setting up and operating CNC turret punch presses and laser cutting machines to process sheet metal components according to production specifications. The Turret/Laser Operator reads and interprets blueprints, production drawings, and job orders; loads and unloads materials; monitors machine operation; inspects finished parts for quality and accuracy; and maintains a safe and organized work area. This position requires strong attention to detail, a focus on quality and safety, and the ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment. This position reports to the Production Team Lead/Plant Manager.

Qualifications and Skills:

• 1 to 3 years of experience operating CNC turret and/or laser machines in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Familiarity with metal types, gauges, and machine tooling.
• Proficient in using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of CNC controls, such as Amada, Trumpf, Mazak, or similar equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift 50 lbs. regularly throughout the shift.
• Ability to work in a noisy industrial environment with varying temperatures.
• Use of PPE such as safety glasses, ear protection, and steel-toed boots required.
• Full-time schedule; overtime or weekend work may be required depending on production needs.
