Job summary

Switcher Electric / APT in Lafayette, Indiana is seeking a Sheet Metal Fabrication Machine Operator to set up and run laser cutters, turret punches, a shear, or a press brake. You will read blueprints, ensure parts meet specifications, and help maintain a clean, safe shop floor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Reliable attendance and transportation.
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work well in a team environment.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and stand for extended periods as needed.
• Prior experience operating laser, turret punch, shear, or press-brake equipment is preferred but not required. We will train motivated team members.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate laser cutters, turret punches, a shear, and/or press brakes to cut, punch, form, and process sheet metal according to drawings and work orders.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.
• Perform quality checks and inspections on finished parts.
• Maintain tools, machines, and a clean, safe work area.
• Follow all safety procedures and support production schedules.
• Work collaboratively as part of a team to meet quality and delivery goals.
• Assist with general shop duties as needed.
