Job summary

Cleburne ISD invites applications for a Substitute Teacher to support students in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. This part-time position focuses on maintaining instructional continuity and classroom order.

Reporting to the Campus Principal, the substitute will follow lesson plans, record daily progress, and ensure safe, respectful learning environments. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and basic orientation completion.

Responsibilities

• Reports to the campus principal upon arrival and follows school policy.
• Reviews lesson plans with the absent teacher's plans for the day.
• Teaches the scheduled lesson and records what was completed.
• Leaves a summary of work completed for the regular teacher.
• Maintains classroom policies and supports a safe learning environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.

Major Responsibilities And Duties

Instructional Support

• Reports to the building principal [school secretary] upon arrival at the school building.
• Reviews with the principal, department head, or team leader all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
• Teaches the lesson outlined and described in the lesson plans as prepared by the absent teacher.
• Provides a written summary of work completed at the end of each teaching day and leaves it for the regular classroom teacher.
• Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.

Student Management

• Maintains effective classroom management and supports the building-wide standards and policies for safety.
• Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
• Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class and during teacher assigned locations and times.
