Job summary

Vail seeks a NOC Technician to monitor servers and applications on a 24/7 timetable across a carrier-grade hosting environment. You will troubleshoot errors, triage incidents, and create tickets for cross-functional teams, rotating 3 weeks on with day shifts and flex weeks.

Ideal candidates bring strong networking, Linux, and monitoring tool experience, plus good communication skills for incident reporting and resolution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 2+ years in an Information Technology role.
• Experience in a customer-facing role.
• Experience with system monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with the Linux operating system.
• Knowledge of log navigation.
• Experience with monitoring tools, such as Nagios.
• Knowledge of networking (TCP/IP and OSI model).
• Proficiency with terminals and terminal commands (e.g., Ping).
• Certifications in IT (e.g., CompTIA) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Continually monitor applications, platforms, and servers during shifts using monitoring tools.
• Check network hardware status to ensure connections are maintained.
• Identify platform issues from alerts and determine root cause.
• Troubleshoot to identify errors and reproduce problems when possible.
• Triage issues to appropriate personnel for resolution.
• Create tickets with detailed issue information for relevant teams.
• Resolve issues within the NOC scope or open investigations for longer fixes.
