Job summary

Minneapolis Public Schools in Minneapolis, MN is seeking a Special Education Assistant (1x1) for the 2026-2027 SY. Under supervision, you will support students with disabilities, assist staff with IEPs and related services, and help students meet therapy and education goals.

The role requires at least 90 quarter credits or 60 semester credits in education or related fields, or a ParaPro score of 460+ and a high school diploma.

Qualifications

Two years of experience working with children.
Completion of 90 quarter or 60 semester credits in Education, Child Development, Behavioral Sciences or related area.
Two years of experience working with children; education or training may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

Provide support to children with disabilities and assist staff with educational activities.
Assist with behavior reinforcement, socialization, and communication.
Maintain behavior documentation and assist with scheduling and transitions.
Attend to daily hygiene and health-related needs as directed by licensed staff.
Support students in community, school, and after-school programs.
Potentially work additional hours as bus aide.
